Record production volume and stable profit for TPCA
Today, TPCA Toyota Peugeot has announced its non-audited economic results of 2008. According to the statements, the company’s revenue amounted to CZK 49 billion, with CZK 1.4 million of pretax profit. TPCA has attained the same level of profit as last year. Revenue of TPCA declined four percent from last year’s 51.3 billion koruna.
Last year, TPCA has manufactured a record number of 324,289 vehicles, including 108,008 Toyota Aygo, 108,192 Peugeot 107 and 108,089 Citroën C1. Compared to the 308,478 cars produced the year before, the annual increase has exceeded five percent. In December 2008, TPCA has launched production of the face-lifted models and celebrated the millionth car manufactured. The millionth car was produced only three years and nine months after starting of mass production.
"We are very pleased with these results", said TPCA President Yasuhiro Takahashi. "Despite the economic crisis that strongly impacts the automobile industry, TPCA has achieved another record production level. Our revenues decreased due to the appreciation of the Czech koruna, but our profits remained stable thanks to good sales result, cost savings and lean manufacturing. We expect our production level in 2009 to be similar to 2008."
