TPCA maintained growth in 2008

08.01.2009

The Kolín-based car manufacturer TPCA has produced 324,289 Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107 and Citroën C1 cars last year. Compared against the 308,478 in the year before, the number represents an annual increase of production by more than five percent. The carmaker has thus maintained the pace of growth as attained the year before.

The production was equally distributed among the three models. The plant has manufactured 108,008 Toyota Aygos; 108,192 Peugeot 107s have left the production lines, along with 108,089 Citroën C1s. The last car of the last year has been driven off the line on 23 December 2008 at 5:11 PM, when manufacturing was suspended for Christmas holidays. The lines started running again on 2 January 2009 at 6:30 AM.

„For the year 2009, we have prepared an increase of capacity. However, the extent of using such an increase of production depends on future development of the automotive market. We expect a rather slight increase of production compared against the year 2008,“ said Yasuhiro Takahashi, president of TPCA Toyota Peugeot Citroën. The small city cars offering low fuel consumption and emissions of carbon dioxide meet the requirements of the European market. Last year, they have achieved the greatest customer success in France, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

In December 2008, TPCA started manufacturing of the facelifted models and has also celebrated the millionth car. TPCA has manufactured its millionth car in only three years and nine month. This car was given to Kolin city.
