CEO of Ford Europe visits TPCA

01.07.2008

John Fleming, CEO of Ford Europe, has visited today TPCA, the Kolín-based plant of Toyota and PSA Peugeot Citroën. Ford Europe Vice-President in charge of manufacturing, Jim Tetreault, accompanied him.

Messrs Fleming and Tetreault were particularly interested in the system of production implemented at Kolin. This system has been also implemented in Toyota’s plants all over the world. Pillars of the system are the continuous improvements reached thank to the Kaizen process or the logistics system called “Just in time”, which aims at minimizing stocks and consequently helps to save costs.

TPCA also uses environment-friendly technologies and was awarded in 2005 the international certificate of management of environmental protection, the EN ISO 14001:2004, as well as a certificate of using the most environment-friendly techniques - the BAT (Best Available Techniques) certificate.

The plant is open to public and especially to students, ranging from elementary schools to universities. More than 10,000 people go through the visitors’ center of TPCA every year.
