The nine-member committee composed of TPCA representatives, regional governments and non-profit organizations were selected from a total of 65 projects sent in. The total number of applications this year was a third lower than in the previous year but was much higher in quality.
They often concerned intentions of completing the existing network of cycle routes linking the community and often used sites with existing paths. Such projects were submitted by municipalities Veltruby and Volárna, which also received the greatest support.
Among the successful applicants were also schools. The primary and nursery school in Opočnice and the primary school Bezručova in Kolín intend to build facilities for teaching in the outside areas of the schools, which provide both the possibility of nature trails and also a place to meet locals. Pupils from the primary school II. Kolín will map the riverElbe; their project focuses on the ecology of freshwater. The results of their work, the collected materials and information on teaching will be available on their school’s website.
