TPCA Made 2 Million Cars
The Kolín plant, joint-venture between PSA Peugeot Citroën and Toyota Motor Corporation, celebrates today the production of its two millionth vehicle. The plant produces the Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107 and Citroën C1 since seven years. In addition TPCA significantly contributes to the development of the Kolín region and donated more than 90 million Czech crowns to date.
”Two million cars were made by the TPCA plant in just 7 years and 1 month,“ said Satoshi Tachihara, President of TPCA. “Thanks to our well qualified staff we can provide high quality products to our customers. By bringing together all the continuous support and cooperation from our parent companies, TPCA aims to continue producing ever-better cars and contributing to the Czech Republic economy and to the Kolin region,“ added Tachihara.
„Building a plant for production of small city cars in the heart of Europe was a good decision. Historically, The Czech Republic has a very rich automotive tradition and nowadays we exert every effort to continue it successfully. We appreciate the cooperation of our parent companies and we strongly believe that customers’ demand for our products will remain high,“ says Patrice Le Guyader, Executive Vice President of TPCA.
„TPCA belongs to one of the biggest and most important foreign investment in the Czech Republic,“ said Miroslav Křížek, the CzechInvest Director and he added: „From 2005, Kolin based car manufacturer contribute to the GDP, is one of the key exporter, gives chance to local suppliers and employee 3 thousand people. With annual turnover around 50 billion has large contribution to the economic development of the Czech Republic.”
The car with the serial number 2 000 000 was handed over to Vít Rakušan, Mayor of the City of Kolín. “I would like to express many thanks for such a generous gift on behalf of the City of Kolín. I appreciate our long-time cooperation with TPCA and its considerable contribution not only to the City itself, but also to the whole region,“ said Vít Rakušan.
Development of the Kolín region
This project created several thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities. At first, 230 employees were engaged in the preparation of the manufacturing plant. Nowadays the Kolín car factory has nearly 3000 employees. Arrival of TPCA was accompanied by an inflow of other business entities and suppliers into the region creating together over 700 jobs in the City of Kolín itself.
The Kolin plant supports traditional cultural and social events in the region as part of its corporate social responsibility programme. Since 2004 the grant program “TPCA Partnership for Kolín Region” donated a sum exceeding 30 million Czech crowns to 130 selected projects. In 2012, 4 million Czech crowns will be donated in the framework of this “TPCA Partnership for Kolin Region”.

Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile (TPCA) is a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and PSA Peugeot Citroën incorporated in 2002 and located in the city of Kolin. Operations started in February 2005 and a year later the annual capacity of 300,000 cars was reached. Nearly 3,000 employees work nowadays in TPCA. TPCA belongs to the greatest exporters from the Czech Republic. The Kolín car factory makes the Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107 and Citroën C1 models, the city cars characterized by reliability and low fuel consumption. TPCA applies the most environment friendly available technologies as confirmed by the BAT (Best Available Techniques) certification awarded to the site together with the international Environmental Management Certificate EN ISO 14001:2004. TPCA has already dedicated over 85 million Czech crowns to development of the Kolín region.
