TPCArt is opening an open-air gallery
The international festival TPCArt or Kolín as a gallery, which is being held by Kolín’s car manufacturer TPCA Toyota Peugeot Citroën, shall reach its high point this Saturday. Renowned artists from the Czech Republic, France and Japan shall present the work they have created during the first September days assisted by students from the Secondary School of Engineering in Kolín. Materials used for the production of Czech Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107 and Citroën C1 cars were also used for making these statues. On Saturday, September 14th from 1 p.m. at the park above the lost lane in Kolín the open-air gallery will be officially opened. Visitors can look forward to moving sculptures including a rich accompanying program.
"The TPCArt or Kolín as a gallery festival, which has filled the city with art is slowly heading into the final presentations. On Saturday, the open-air gallery shall be opened where statues of four artists will be exhibited. During the day visitors will show that street art is not only about art, but their place on the street have different performances, for example in the form of a modern circus, "says Monika Koťarová, coordinator of the festival. "We believe that the by opening the gallery it will create another place for families with children, young and older generations to go to think and relax," says Koťarová.
Statues at a height of three meters and weighing up to one ton accompanied by live music and a fire show will all grace us on Saturday. Tets Ohnari from Japan will show his work as an imitation to the production of the Toyota Aygo. The sculpture consists of a number of miniature metal models arranged in the style of origami. Frenchman Sylvain Sambre is working on a sculpture representing stability. The body of the statue is made up of various components such as an exhaust, brakes, car body or shaft and the axle itself. Jan Kalab, the famous artist from Bohemia used mainly moulded automobile sheets in his work. His compatriot Jan Holub selected a portion of the front axle assembled into the Kolín triplets.
Jan Holub - has a rich artistic career and has replaced a number of professions from special tricks and film effects through to jewellery workshops to gaming machines assembled from various materials. He will produce an untraditional sculpture on the theme "we live here together."
Jan Kaláb – is a pioneer of the Czech graffiti scene, especially he is one of the first plastic 3D graffiti artists in the world. For TPCArt he will create a sculpture on the theme of "protecting nature" created from materials used just for the Kolín cars.
Tets Ohnari – is an overseas sculptor of Japanese origin who is trying to express and discover the origin and substantial interaction between man- the artist and material through his sculptures. TPCArt or Kolín as a gallery will present his work on as the "responsible car manufacturer TPCA”.
Sylvain Sambre – the artistic creative sculptor, originally from France, is most influenced by the atmosphere where he works and the people he encounters. He will offer his work, which will symbolize the efforts of TPCA to be a strong and stable partner for the region to the park above the lost lane.
All afternoon on Saturday the children and their parents can enjoy the circus village that will offer a tight-rope show, workshops, circus tents with activities for children, bubble-makers, mime show and much more. DJ Dan Cooley, Hitfakers or Sek jsi bombónky shall provide the entertainment.
