Kolín hosts the International Festival of Modern Art TPCArt

29.08.2013

The car manufacturer TPCA Toyota Peugeot Citroën comes with a unique project for the Kolínregion. The international festival of modern art, TPCArt, is subtitled as Kolín as a gallery. During the first fourteen days of September, the streets of Kolín and other selected sites will become a space for the development of new and renowned artists. Sculptures will be created by a quartet of world-renowned artists with the assistance of students from the Secondary School of Engineering in Kolín as part of the festival. For their rendition, they will use materials commonly used in the manufacturing of Kolín’s Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107 and Citroën C1 models. The highpoint of the festival will be accompanied by a rich program that will be held in the park above lost lane. The main idea of organizing an international modern art festival in Kolín was created to enrich the region artistically in which the carmaker feels at home and to highlight an innovative way of recycling. The festival aims to support young artists just as they support start-up musicians, who are given the opportunity at TPCA’s Beat Festival every year.

"We wanted to give the opportunity to those who are at the start of their careers, we want to present their work and also for them to meet with experienced, world renowned artists. The meaning behind TPCArt is also to engage even those who have never tried anything like this into these creative activities. They can help beautify the place in which they live, "says Kenta Koide, president of the car manufacturing company.

"We want tomove with the times, to supportyouthandyoungart. Therefore, this yearwe cameup with somethinginnovative, forsome, perhapsevena bitprovocative, which now has its place in the world'smetropolises. We believethat the resultingworksfrompaintingsthrough toindustrialarts will be rewarding to the public,"saysPatriceLeGuyader, vice president of TPCA.

The culmination of the festival will be the official opening of the open-air gallery in the park above the lost lane in Kolín on Saturday, September 14th from 1 p.m. Four sculptures will symbolize the qualities that TPCA values-responsibility, protection of the environment, mutual co-existence and support of the region. The masterpieces will be presented by the four Czech and foreign artists whose names are a well-known brand in the art world.

Jan Holub - has a rich artistic career and has replaced a number of professions from special tricks and film effects through jewelry workshops to gaming machines assembled from various materials. He will produce an untraditional sculpture on the theme "we live here together."

Jan Kaláb – is a pioneer of the Czech graffiti scene, especially, he is one of the first plastic 3D graffiti artists in the world. For TPCArt he will create a sculpture on the theme of "protecting nature" created from materials used just for the Kolín cars.

Tets Ohnari – is an overseas sculptor of Japanese origin who is trying to express and discover the origin and substantial interaction between man- the artist and material through his sculptures. TPCArt or Kolín as a gallery will present his work on the theme "responsible car manufacturer TPCA”.

Sylvain Sambre – the artistic creative sculptor, originally from France, is most influenced by the atmosphere where he works and the people he encounters. He will offer his work, which will symbolize the efforts of TPCA to be a strong and stable partner for the region to the park above the lost lane.

The international festival of modern art TPCArt or Kolín as a gallery shall become a unique meeting place for cultures of different nations and a fun place where generations from the youngest to the oldest will find many activities in the rich program.
